Exceptional Children

At Rocky Mount Prep, we want every child to have access to programs designed to meet their educational needs. Exceptional children’s (EC) programs include children with physical, mental, or social disabilities as well as academically gifted children.

EC Mission

The mission of the Exceptional Children's Program is to ensure that students with disabilities develop mentally, physically, socially, emotionally, and vocationally through the provision of an appropriate individualized education in the least restrictive environment. These services are provided by capable, qualified faculty and staff.

Special Olympics

Special Olympics is a global nonprofit organization that targets and supports the nearly 200 million people around the world who have intellectual disabilities. The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities who wish to participate, giving them continuous opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
